Today we dive into Gen Z's growing desire to unplug and find something real in a world that's constantly online. Born into the digital age, Gen Z has known nothing else but social media, smartphones, and algorithm-fed opinions.
Yet, ironically, this hyper-connected generation is also the one feeling the most disconnected-from themselves, from community, and from God. What we're seeing is a generation in search of authenticity. They're not impressed with performance or stage lights. They crave meaningful encounters. That's why many are gathering in dorm rooms, prayer circles, and student unions-not for entertainment, but for worship and discipleship. I call this the "digital disconnect."
Gen Z is looking for safe spaces where they can turn off the noise, silence the pings, and sit in stillness before the Lord. In Psalm 46:10, the Word of God says, "Be still and know that I am God." Stillness has become a lost art in this distracted world. Yet, it's in that stillness where clarity comes, where calling is refined, and where identity in Christ is confirmed. Church leaders, parents, mentors-listen up.
Gen Z doesn't need us to out-tech them. They need us to out-love, out-disciple, and outlast the distractions around them. Give them Scripture, not slogans. Give them presence, not platforms. Give them spaces to encounter God in real, unfiltered ways. When they experience the presence of the living God, everything changes. And when they find authenticity in the Church, they won't be so quick to leave it behind after high school or college. We need to show them that Jesus is not just relevant-He is revolutionary. Tomorrow, we'll talk about what it really means to have a burning bush encounter with God and how it forever changes a life. Don't miss it!
